My Daily Eyebrow Tutorial

I am so sorry i've been M.I.A for so long. My laptop charger broke (for the millionth time thank you apple) so I was unable to do any poor quality photos! booo hisss! - but the replacement charger finally arrived today, so I thought i'd do a post just to let you know i'm still here and I haven't abandoned you.

A lovely lady emailed me asking if I could do a tutorial on how I do my eyebrows, so here it is! I hope it's clear enough (the sooner I can afford a brilliant camera the better). - As you can see my brows are quite naturally dark and shaped, so if you have less of a brow you can follow my tips if you like and just gradually build it more than I do. But obviously do your eyebrows how ever you want! This is just how I choose to do mine, but there are hundreds of different ways to do them :)

What I use for my brows: 

- MAC spike eyebrow pencil

- MAC's clear brow setter

- MAC's 212 flat definer brush

001. Always make sure before and during filling and drawing in your eye brows that the start of your brows will be inline with your tear duct, the middle of your eye is where you have your arch and the tip of the eyebrows are in line with the end of your eye.

002. Using tiny light strokes, i use the pencil to slowly build up the colour and thickness. I always mimic the way the hair grows to make it look more natural and less like i've heavely drawn them on.

003. I then continue doing tiny strokes of colour all across my brows, following the natural shape of my eyebrow.

004. This is my favourite part - I then draw a small line from my eyebrow, so that my brows will eventually be inline with my tear duct.

005. I do the same line on the bottom of my brows making sure i'm guided by my natural shape and then lightly fill in the gap a tiny bit.

006. Using my 212 brush i drag the pencil that has been applied up and down to create a gradient effect, I like doing this because I think it makes it look less drawn on. (and less like groucho).

007. Finally I set it with the brow setter to make sure it stays in place all day. - Cheap clear mascara works just the same!

and that's it :) basically I just extend them, darken them and thicken them slightly. Just a quick post to say hello! and that i'm still here! I thought i'd show you the makeup I use most regularly. The MAC eyebrow pencil is the best i've ever used and let me tell you i'm a bit of a crazy when it comes to eyebrows so i've tested out quick a few! I love MAC's face and body foundation, but to be honest when I bought it i thought it was £13 and then nearly had a heart attack when the woman said £25, I have had it for a long, long time but I still don't think it's worth the money. I swear by my bobbi Brown gel liner pots!! They literally last years. The last one I had lasted me 2 years and I used it every single day, so it was so worth the money (<3). Lastly I wouldn't say this is the best red lipstick at all really because it doesn't last very long and it has a weird shine to it, but it's the only one I own so i'm going to embrace it until the end.

PRODUCT SWATCHES: MAC CREAM COLOUR BASE IN HUSH (Frost)

By reader's request, I did a swatch of my MAC Cream Colour Base. Though I already have mentioned from my previous review that this product barely shows up on my skin, I still did try to take photos for you to see.

 

I picked a thick amount of the product.

I applied it directly to my cheek's temple and a little bit down to my cheek's apple.

 

 See that? The peachy color barely shows up but the sheen is obviously visible.

 

I applied my blush-on. I used my large powder brush to pick the blush and applied it onto cheeks with patting motion only; not brush strokes.

 

The blush on will stick to the colour base creating a natural glowing cheeks. I hope the photo justifies it.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MAC COLOUR CREAM BASE IN HUSH (FROST)

I barely used my MAC Cream Colour Base. When my client gave this to me as "pasalubong"  two years ago, I can remember only a few time that I've used it. Well, I have one reason - I'm afraid it will just add shine to my oily face. So, this has been sitting in my drawer and just waited for me to reach for it sometimes lol!

Product Description:

 Versatile and multi-purpose, Cream Colour Base can be applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturizer, or powder. Apply with a brush, sponge or fingers. Colour effect range from a light veil to highly dramatic, depending on method of application.

 

 

 MAC Cream Colour Base in HUSH Frost

What I like:

o I get this for free lol!

o It gives an instant glow when applied.

o Great as base for a longer-lasting blush on.

o Great as highlighter.

o Great staying power.

o Just a thin finger swipe and you get an instant product pay-off.

What I don't like:

o The frost made me look oilier in the area where I applied it.

Verdict:

I have oily skin in the T-zone area only. I have tried applying this just above my cheekbones. The peachy color barely show up on my skin because I am morena but you'll see the glow because of its sheen. I have tried it applying in my nose bridge for highlighting and it does a great job because the frost creates a lovely sheen thus creates an illusion of slimmer nose.

  

With this look, I applied the product onto my nose bridge. 

Overall, this product is great but it is not an everyday must-have for me. I would recommend this to those who are not oily or rather those who have dry skin and those who wanted an instant dewy glow effect everyday.


By the way, this product can also be applied onto:

Eyes - but I never attempted to try because I know it will just crease on me.

Lips - can be applied in the cupid's bow and in the middle of your lips for a pout effect.

Since the day I started using eye glasses, I got inspired to do eye make-up that will suit my new look. I'm concentrating on my eyes, of course. I used my latest "babies" - Elianto Colour Studio and Etude House to experiment my new eye looks. I'm so happy with how the Etude House eye shadow does its job. Face It: Smokey Eye with MAC

Hey yah! How's your weekend? I and hubby are supposed to have a long weekend somewhere in South because Monday is holiday in celebration of the National Heroes Day. But tomorrow would be a very busy Monday for us coz we have clients in line for tomorrow. You know, in nature of our work, the holidays meant to be a working day sometimes but of course, Holy Week, Christmas and New Years Eve is exempted. Oh c'mon, give us some break. Lols!

So, today we just stayed at home and prepared some documentation and contracts for tomorrow's appointment. Hubby did some of the laundry and I spent my time doing my FOTD, lols! FOTD means Face of the Day hehehe. Oh yeah, I did some make-up (I'm still trying hard to be good in doing Smokey eye make-up) and did a little bit of pictorial with my hubby as my poging photographer.

Honestly, I still cannot perfect the blending on my eyes but please bear with me hehehe. I did a Smokey eye make-up using the following:

 Oh, I forgot to include in this photo the Blusher I used (I used Bobbi Brown in Pink Clay) and the Maybelline Eyeliner in Kohl.

The tutorial below is my simple steps in achieving this Smokey eye look yet simple which can also wear during daytime.

Step 1.

Always start with a clean face. I washed my face with Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Facial Wash and applied Clean & Clear Facial Toner for toning my face. Then, I pumped-out an ample amount of BB Cream and spread evenly onto my face and onto neck using my forefinger. The result would be whitish at first but don't worry because after a minute, it will set onto your face like your natural complexion.

Etude House BB Magic Cream in Refreshing

Step 2.

After the BB Magic Cream sets onto your face, set it with a powder. I am using a Rice Powder. Ewww... I have an oil-mine kasi eh, lols!

Step 3. 

 I have thick eye brows. I used only a brow powder to soften it.

Step 4.

I applied an Eye shadow Base to make the eye shadow's color very vibrant. Also this base will make the eye shadow stay longer on your lid. Apply it onto your eyelid up to your brow bone.

Step 5.

Using my MAC Quad Eyeshadow, I applied the Garcon Gray onto my eyelid in tapping motion.

Step 6. 

I applied the Seedy Pearl in the middle of my eyelid just to highlight my lid a little bit. 
Then, I applied the Bistro in the outer V moving inward. Then, use a blending brush to soften the hard edges. I tried to have more depth by adding more of Bistro especially the outer V.

 Highlight your eyes. Using NYX in High light eye shadow, applied it in your upper lid up to the brow bone and also in the inner side of your lid.

Step 7.

Define your lash line using a Liquid Eyeliner in Black. Then, curl your lashes and coat it 2-times with mascara always.

If you're doing Smokey eye, applying the dark eye shadows need not to be perfect. Coz you will tone down the hard edges later by using a blending brush. Always remember, blend, blend, blend! Then, you can always soften everything by putting tiny high light in the corner of your eyes and putting a bit in the edge of your brow bone. Tight line your lower lash line using black eyeliner.

Apply this in the corner of the eyes and edge of your brow bone.

Step 8.

Don't forget to put your Blush-on.

Bobbi Brown Blush

Smokey eye is perfect look with a nude lips... So, catch your nude lipsticks now!
(Sorry for those 2 front teeth... ganyan na talaga yan hehe)

 Yes, I know. I never look good in close-up photos ever. Lols!
But here's the far semi-close up taken by my hubby. I edited this photo to give soft focus on my face. Buti na lang maganda ang anggulo na nakuha hehehe.

After my almost 45 minute's ceremony, I came out with this result.

That's how I spent my weekend with my hubby. Hope this post is again worth reading.
