REVIEW: WET n WILD Silk Finish in Cinnamon

I took advantage of the time the other day since our appointment was all moved in the late afternoon. I've edited and watermark some pictures. Yey! It means, pictures are ready and I'll just do the draft. I feel like I'm neglecting my blog so much for not posting reviews, OOTD and nail posts. Oh I hope you liked my latest review of a natural product here and my latest OOTD post here. I also got to clean my closet. Wohoo! Have you seen my preloved items for sale? You may find some items that you like, click here.

Haven't I mentioned that I'm a fan of Wet n Wild lipsticks? I guess I hadn't. Well, today's post is about a lipstick again from this brand. I already reviewed the Megalast lipstick here and the Silk Finish here. So, today's post is still from the line of the latter but a different shade of course. If you want to see the other Silk Finish I got, click here, here & here.

The last time I bought Wet n Wild Silk Finish lipstick, it was only priced at Php99.00 but that was 2 years ago, so I think the increased price is reasonable. The retail price now is Php119.00. Still a steal price eh?

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick
509A Cinammon

I don't know when they started putting the shade name at the bottom label but I am really, really glad they finally labeled it on the tube itself. The old ones I got hasn't.

Jenniya's View

I like:
... So opaque.
... It brighten up my face.
... My teeth look whiter.
... It doesn't have an odd smell.
... Moist and creamy.
... Not drying on the lips.

I don't like:
... It bleeds.
... Thin consistency.
... Easily transfer.
... Very glossy.

Taken using iPhone 5 (the picture is cropped already, hence pixelated and grainy) without camera flash under natural lighting near the window.

Jenniya Says:
If you have read my review of Cherry Frost, this Cinnamon shade is similar to it but this one is obviously darker. This Silk Finish lipstick has thin coverage yet it looked like it has thick coverage. It is because all reds are opaque. With the strong and vibrant color of it, you cannot determine if you've put too much or just enough. In just one swipe, you can opt to wear it alone and confidently go out and paint the town red. Lol! I kid.

Well, Reds can instantly brighten up a face and make your teeth whiter. Anybody can wear red lipstick and look great on it provided you know your skin tone so that you can choose what shade of lipstick will look best on you. To determine your skin tone, click here. I have medium skin tone (or morena) that's why I picked this shade of red lipstick. This Cinnamon is deep red with a hint of gold and brown and it complement my warm complexion.

This lipstick is good for 4 hours. After that, the shade isn't that vibrant anymore. It transfer easily like when I drink and it fades when I eat and leave with uneven stain. The lipstick has conditioning ingredients of Vitamins A& E and Aloe Vera that make your lips looking moist which I sometimes find annoying because it looks so glossy. I can make it matte though by blotting my lips with tissue and brush it up with  a powder. Then, re-apply the lipstick and re-blot again. It makes the lipstick stay longer, too. Don't forget to use lipliner because this one bleeds.

Review: Maybelline Clear Smooth All-In-One Shine Free Foundation

I found myself one day at Watsons holding this Maybelline product and secretly scrutinizing it. I ran out of my favorite oil-controlling powder and unfortunately, my shade was out of stock when I went to Beauty Bar Shangri-La Mall. So, I ran to Maybelline. Since my plan is to use this temporarily, I settled for refill only.

The Product

The packaging.

There's also a transparent plastic over the powder.

This product claims.

Product Swatches

Very fine texture.

Left: with flash; Right: without flash.
When you blend it...

Totally blended and it set so with my skin tone.

I like:
... It has SPF 25.
... Silky soft texture.
... Cute and sturdy packaging.
... It is hygienic because of the transparent plastic over the powder.
... The size is travel friendly.
... Light weight.
... Nice coverage.
... Non-cakey.

I Don't Like:
... The puff included smells rubber.
... Oil control power is not maximum but least.

Jenniya Say:
To start with, I have oily skin. So, anything that controls shine really attracts me. I don't know if it's just me but every time I buy oil-control products, I spent long minutes reading what it claims and I'd read it again and again. Sometimes, the more the product benefits are well-described and sounds convincing, the possibility is I'd certainly buy it. Like this Maybelline Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Foundation, I admit the product benefits written really gets me to buy it. I was torn between the shade of Warm Beige and Natural but I took the latter instead. I do not see any tester because the items were displayed on the display rack together with the other brands. I know they have testers at the Maybelline counter but laziness got me and I wasn't in the mood to hear any magic spiel recited by any sales assistant that time. Good thing I took the Natural shade because it perfectly match my skin tone. Great.

The photo above clearly explains how this product worked on me. When I applied Maybelline Clear Smooth Foundation onto my bare face (I just applied moisturizer and no primer at all), I didn't use the puff. It is not because of the strong smell of rubber (because I washed it already with a baby shampoo) but I really prefer using my large powder brush in applying my powder. The powder sits on the pores that way and will give you in the initial hours a semi-pore-less face.

I love the coverage of this foundation because even I didn't apply the powder generously, my face still achieved the matte, instant smooth and natural looking finish. My pores were less visible, too. The blemishes on my forehead were concealed and the redness on my face was gone. I am impressed. This is perfect to those who doesn't want their face looking so made-up.

Note that I stayed in a non-aircon room with just a fan on when I tested this foundation and took these pictures at around 3:00 P.M. Under a humid weather, my oil started to come out and I started melting after 2 hours. It's my time to shine again. Lol. That's how oily my skin is. As you see, it started to give me a dewy-like finish. I wish it will stay as dewy like that but my oil is fond of embarrassing me and I can't control it. I have to blot my T-zone area and re-apply the powder again before I totally melt. Though the shine control lasted for every 2 hours only for my uber oily skin, I get back its deficit by leaving me a smooth complexion and natural looking skin every time I retouched. If you apply a face primer, then you will surely enjoy a maximum staying power of shine free face. I haven't tried this in an aircon room though. This product will perfectly work to those who are blessed with normal and not so oily skin like me.

I love that it has SPF 25. With the weather we have now, the sun is very unforgiving. Make sure your skin products are armed with SPF. You don't like to get burn and deal with wrinkles at early stage, do you? This baby have found a space in my beauty bag. Meant that I like this product and I've been using this for many times already whenever I attend mass, going to supermarkets and when I have urgent appointments and have no choice but to do my make-up in a moving car; I can always rely on a compact like this.

Jenniya rate this product:
4 out of 5. Good.

Maybelline Clear Smooth (refill) is retail at Php159 while the compact is at P249. Available in 4 shades. You can buy this product in all Watsons, SM Dept. Store and all other leading stores.

Have you tried this product?

Review: Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Just Peachy

I admit, yesterday was a bit tough. I never knew that running a giveaway could take a lot of my time in validating the entries (well, for now because it's my first time). Laugh at me but yes, I do. I'm so shallow I know but I really enjoy reading all the entries. Very inspiring, really. Wait, have you joined my giveaway yet? Click here to join.

Today's post is about a lipstick review. It's been long time since I posted one and guess I'll be reviewing Wet n Wild Megalast lipstick again. I was supposed to review the first Megalast lipstick I bought some months ago but I was so lazy to take product shoot until I've used the lipstick already. I regret doing it because I lost the chance to share something beautiful to my readers. It was in Nude shade though. So now I made sure this second buy will be: shoot first before use.

I bought this at Watsons Megamall. When I saw that Wet n Wild's station was deserted (I meant no sales assistant standing beside it); a smirk was drawn on my lips. I had a pretty time and went through all the Megalast shades and was torn between Think Pink and Just Peachy. But I decided to take the latter as something peachy & coral-ish will perfectly suit my morena skin. I love Think Pink, too, but maybe next time.

Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick
903C Just Peachy

What I first noticed was they finally got it labeled on the bottom. The Nude I bought before hasn't it. Good to know they heard consumer's concern because it is really hard to identify and remember the shade name with all the lipsticks we have girls, right? Except if that is something in your favorites then you'll definitely had it memorized.

Jenniya's view:

I Like:
... The color is oh-so purrfect for summer.
... Versatile shade.
... It leaves a creamy matte finish with a hint of sheen.
... It's opaque. The first swipe leaves enough amount to distribute when you pressed your lips.
... Of course, it suited my morena skin tone.
... The color doesn't wash-out my face.
... The color is a bit nude with hint of pink.
... It doesn't have an odd smell.
... The packaging doesn't look cheap.
... Affordable for only Php 299 ($7.11)

Photos from the above up to here are taken without camera flash.

I Don't Like:
... It is hard to pull-open the cap because it was like glued into the tube. I was afraid I might break the cap as I even heard the squeaky sound.
... It set in few lines particularly in the middle of my lower lip.
... My lips gone drier when I wear it.

Taken without camera flash under natural lighting beside the window.
The picture doesn't justify it's true color. In person, it's Just Peachy indeed.

Taken with camera flash under natural lighting beside the window.
The picture somehow justified the color but in a lighter version. Imagine it 1 shade darker, then you'll get the Just Peachy shade.
Taken without camera flash.

Taken with camera flash.

Jenniya Says:
Even though I said that it can be drying on the lips, I actually don't mind at all because it never get to the point that it crack or wound my lips like the other local cheap brands. The creamy texture of it is the kick you will get to make your lips stay soft and not flaky. I just have to deal with dryness at the end of the day but hey, lip balms can solve it. I love how it look not-so-matte at all because pure matte with no sheen will definitely make you look washed-out in day time unless you're sporting a dark smokey eye in a broad daylight. This color is versatile because you can wear this in daytime and oh-so perfect at night time, too. It set on the lines, yes, but I do have a wrinkly lips ever since so I think this will look smoother to those with a blessed soft and supple lips. Agree? I would definitely purchased the other shades like Think Pink and the other orange-y & reddish ones, I totally forgot the shade names. Forgetful Jenniya I know. :)

Product Review: Ever Bilena Matte Lipsticks

Since last month, whenever I had the chance to pass by at any Watsons, I always checked repeatedly my favorite beauty counters looking for matte lipstick. I always failed to find any because some aren't that matte that I wanted and some are just too steep for me. So after the longest time of finding mattes, I finally gave in to try and bought 2 matte lipsticks from Ever Bilena. My last purchase from Ever Bilena was their matte jumbo pencil lipstick way back 10 years ago when I was working in Penshoppe. That matte texture back then is what I really wanted.

P145.00 each

Anyway, at first glance of their testers, the matte lipstick speaks itself; it really looked matte. Then, I swatch some. By the way, I never swatches lipstick onto my lips (hygiene it is!) but only on top of my hands. Moving on, when I glide it onto my hand, the color pay-off wasn't good; the color barely show. So, I had it glided with a lil bit of pressure then, finally it shows. Well, maybe the testers were mostly opened that's why the testers dried up. I've chosen 2 shades - Mauvey and Pink Flame.

L: Pink Flame; R: Mauvey

I hate SA's that do not know well the product they are selling especially with those in the cheap brands. I don't want to be so mean but that's the truth. I'm just being honest.

When I asked the SA to get me a new stock of Mauvey and Pink Flame, I asked her to open it for me and I got dismayed because the cap of the Mauvey that has a swatch of the lipstick wasn't been glued well and it was detached from the top of the cap. She told me she'll get a new stock. That was okay with me but to hear from her that the detached cap swatch can actually be used as lip gloss... What?!? Of course, I know it is not a lip gloss. I wanted to correct her but then again, I don't want to be mean to her especially that she has another customer in her area, so I ignored what she has said. I'm just irritated by her stupid selling techniques. I just get a new stock of it and off directly to the cashier. When I got home, I discovered that the new stock she gave was also the same. It has defects. Both of them.

Both Pink Flame & Mauvey - chipped off silver coating..

Mauvey - the cap swatch was also the same (it wasn't glued). Oh c'mon, that is not a lip gloss but more like a soft rubberized thing.

Pink Flame - when I first tried to twist it upward..

 ...it was ruined! Oh no!

I was really saddened. All of us would like to have our purchases brand new and no defects, right? I love my lipsticks in their perfect shapes and untouched until I glide it onto my lips. But this batch of lipstick purchase is an exemption. I just get what I pay for. Another lesson learned.

Enough for that blah. I just want to warn you that the following photos below are kinda gross. Excuse me dear because during that time, I was in my 2 successive days of wearing my Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick and haven't I said so yet that my lips tends to exfoliate grossly whenever I used my Maybelline? So, just close this window if you can't stand to see it.

Ever Bilena Matte lipstick swatches:

The verdict?

  • I have a wrinkly lips so it sets in lines but not that obvious since it's matte.
  • It easily vanished when you eat and do not left even a bit of stain (except in your liplines) but it's not really a big deal for me. We always retouch anyway.
  • They are really matte finish. The photos didn't justify the matte-ness but in person, it is lovely! Just the way I wanted to.
  • You have to swipe it more for your desired opacity.

Pink Flame is my favorite. I've been wearing Pink Flame everyday since last week. The Mauvey is perfect to match with dark smokey eye. Well, despite of all the defects I found, I am happy that I have mattes now. I just hope I can find like these in other brands.

Until my next post beauties!

Much love,

AT LAST, I GOT WET n WILD's PINK NOVEAU LIPSTICK!

Along with the IN2IT "Balloon Brush" Mascara, I bought a new lipstick from my to-date favorite lipstick brand - the Wet n Wild. I've been always checking this shade of 511B or Noveau Pink from time to time every time I dropped by at the SM Beauty Department and it was always out of stock. But that day was such a lucky day for me because I got one already. They re-stocked and the shade was really fast-moving. So happy to got mine because there's only 3 tubes left.

The Noveau Pink - at last, I got you!

So lovely!

Without flash

with flash

I've been wearing this lipstick most of the times now especially when I do some condo viewing. In this season of summer now, I skip putting on any face foundation but only sun block with minimum SPF 20 to protect my face from the harmful rays of the sun. I hate to see my face with sweat all over plus my uber-oily face, lol! Sayang lang talaga ang foundation hahaha! I just apply a face powder over my sun block, a blush-on, my new IN2IT balloon brush mascara and this lipstick, and then I'm ready to go!

One sunny afternoon in Makati City with my Noveau Pink lipstick. This photo was taken using my iPhone4.

By the way, this lipstick costs P99.00 only and you can get this from any Beauty Department of SM. Until next post beauties!

NEW BEAUTY FIND: IN2IT "BALLOON BRUSH" MASCARA

I know, it's been a long time already since my last post. Blame it all to the work and the busy schedules. I still have a hang-over of the long-weekend vacation, so I have the reason to write now. By the way, how's your Holy Week? Did you go out of town or just stayed home with your family and observe the holy week? If you will ask about me, well, I spent it with my family from out of towns and observance of holy week back to the Metro.

I would consider that this is the busiest month for me for this year because aside from work, my brother who is an OFW from KSA have arrived this April and is now having a three (3) months vacation and also my B's cousin and his family did a short vacation here in Manila from the U.S. We brought them to the attractions they wanted to see and everything turned out fine.

I have many stories to tell but let me first share to you my new beauty finds from SM Beauty Department. I still have my Maybelline mascara but I really cannot resist not to buy this cute "balloon brush" mascara from IN2IT. It's so cute that really fits in my kikay kit and which I can tote around anywhere I go.

Isn't it so cute? The packaging, the color, the size? Hays.. I love it!

Yup! It's a balloon brush. The spikes are so soft and it coats each lash separately resulting to have an extra-length looking lashes. This is like their fibre mascara that I have tried on before that gives extra length to my lashes but the downside of that fibre mascara was it dried up immediately. I don't know with this balloon brush mascara how long will it last before it dries up. We will see then.

That spikes are made of rubber so that's why it's so soft. No worries if you accidentally poke your eyes hehehe.

Yey! The price tag is just right with the size of this tube.

I've already used this balloon mascara for awhile now and I would say I saved time in putting on my make-up because when I'm in a hurry, I just curled my lashes and get out of the house and I do put on this mascara inside the car. The wand is so handy and I can manage to control it in my hands even the car is moving. That cute balloon brush is really a wander because even at the very peak of the traffic in EDSA where  hubby always hit the brake most of the times; it didn't messed up when it applies.

Okay beauties, that's it for now. I promised to go back with my regular blogging starting this week.

Much love,
