REVIEW: WET n WILD Silk Finish in Cinnamon

I took advantage of the time the other day since our appointment was all moved in the late afternoon. I've edited and watermark some pictures. Yey! It means, pictures are ready and I'll just do the draft. I feel like I'm neglecting my blog so much for not posting reviews, OOTD and nail posts. Oh I hope you liked my latest review of a natural product here and my latest OOTD post here. I also got to clean my closet. Wohoo! Have you seen my preloved items for sale? You may find some items that you like, click here.

Haven't I mentioned that I'm a fan of Wet n Wild lipsticks? I guess I hadn't. Well, today's post is about a lipstick again from this brand. I already reviewed the Megalast lipstick here and the Silk Finish here. So, today's post is still from the line of the latter but a different shade of course. If you want to see the other Silk Finish I got, click here, here & here.

The last time I bought Wet n Wild Silk Finish lipstick, it was only priced at Php99.00 but that was 2 years ago, so I think the increased price is reasonable. The retail price now is Php119.00. Still a steal price eh?

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick
509A Cinammon

I don't know when they started putting the shade name at the bottom label but I am really, really glad they finally labeled it on the tube itself. The old ones I got hasn't.

Jenniya's View

I like:
... So opaque.
... It brighten up my face.
... My teeth look whiter.
... It doesn't have an odd smell.
... Moist and creamy.
... Not drying on the lips.

I don't like:
... It bleeds.
... Thin consistency.
... Easily transfer.
... Very glossy.

Taken using iPhone 5 (the picture is cropped already, hence pixelated and grainy) without camera flash under natural lighting near the window.

Jenniya Says:
If you have read my review of Cherry Frost, this Cinnamon shade is similar to it but this one is obviously darker. This Silk Finish lipstick has thin coverage yet it looked like it has thick coverage. It is because all reds are opaque. With the strong and vibrant color of it, you cannot determine if you've put too much or just enough. In just one swipe, you can opt to wear it alone and confidently go out and paint the town red. Lol! I kid.

Well, Reds can instantly brighten up a face and make your teeth whiter. Anybody can wear red lipstick and look great on it provided you know your skin tone so that you can choose what shade of lipstick will look best on you. To determine your skin tone, click here. I have medium skin tone (or morena) that's why I picked this shade of red lipstick. This Cinnamon is deep red with a hint of gold and brown and it complement my warm complexion.

This lipstick is good for 4 hours. After that, the shade isn't that vibrant anymore. It transfer easily like when I drink and it fades when I eat and leave with uneven stain. The lipstick has conditioning ingredients of Vitamins A& E and Aloe Vera that make your lips looking moist which I sometimes find annoying because it looks so glossy. I can make it matte though by blotting my lips with tissue and brush it up with  a powder. Then, re-apply the lipstick and re-blot again. It makes the lipstick stay longer, too. Don't forget to use lipliner because this one bleeds.

REVIEW: HUMAN HEART NATURE Balancing Facial Wash

I've heard and seen Human Heart Nature products from the other beauty blogs. Honestly, I considered myself ignorant when it comes to natural products. So, when I saw Human Heart Nature in Beauty Bar, I can't help myself but spared long minutes scrutinizing it. I felt the urge to try one of their products and so, I picked one.

The Product

Human Heart Nature Balancing Facial Wash

This product claims:
99.85% Natural | For OILY or COMBINATION skin
It’s time to break free from break outs! Keep oil under control with the improved Balancing Facial Wash - nature’s blend of manila elemi, prized ingredient revered by the world’s beauty industry, and marine extractsfor shine-free, glowing skin. Infused with sugar beet and aloe vera to help replenish lost moisture while bamboo scrubs and loofah gently exfoliate clogged dirt and trapped oil.
So stay away from chemical soaps that can strip your face of its natural moisture barrier, causing it to produce even more oil. Your skin deserves a gentle yet effective facial wash that doesn’t make your skin say “Ouch!” Now you’re free to reveal clearer, fresher, healthier skin!

Elemi & Orange for Oily & Combination Skin
I saw only two (2) variants of facial wash available in the display but when I checked on Human Heart Nature website, I found out it is available in three (3) variants - Hydrating Creamy Wash (for Dry or Mature Skin), Nourishing Facial Wash (for Normal or Sensitive Skin) and Balancing Facial Wash (for Oily or Combination Skin). These are available in two (2) sizes; a 50 ml and a 200 ml. I got the small one which costs Php85.00 but I found out from their website that this bottle is priced at Php79.75 and oh, good news because they are having now a special offer of Php69.75 only! How cool is that eh?

I like:
... 100% No Harmful Chemicals.
... 99.85% Natural Ingredients.
... It has a citrus scent.
... Natural, gentle scrubs & beads.
... Clear bottle packaging .
... Clear content.
... It minimize shine on my face.
... It dries up pimples fast.
... It dispense just the right amount from the bottle.

I don't like:
... Hard to shake when it was still full.

Jenniya Say:
I love that this facial wash is clear and it housed in a transparent bottle. When I saw the green scrubs which are bamboo scrubs & loofah and the white micro beads which are sugar beets & aloe vera, I suddenly imagined how good it feels to get gently scrubbed by it especially that it is natural. I am fond of using products with beads, so I was sold. Actually, I always got sold of anything that promise gentle exfoliation.

I am impressed of this facial wash. It leaves a shine-free face after washing. No sign of oil at all. I really felt squeaky-cleaned. The oil starts to appear after an hour but it was lesser than usual. Also I noticed that my face is clearer now, less oilier and it wasn't that nasty to look at when the oil take the stage again to shine. Lol! I think the Vitamin C from the Orange worked well to clear out my skin. And the most amazing thing it did on my skin was it dried up my pimples very fast! You know, I recently had my hair trimmed (slashed-style) and got bangs for a change. Since then, I developed small pimples or rather sharp blemishes on my forehead and on my jaw line and I know it was because of my hair; the tips touches my jaw line as well my bangs touches my forehead. When I started using this Balancing Facial Wash, the pimples dried up very fast and vanished in 2 days. Of course, I managed my hair away from my jaw line and I clipped my bangs, too, and that helps anyway.

I used this facial wash 2 times a day; morning and at night. The pea-sized amount is enough for the face and neck. I wet my face first and squeeze out the product onto my palm. I apply the product onto my nose, cheeks, forehead, chin and my neck. Then, I gently massage it in circular motion. The watery-gel texture turned into a thin foam. The green scrubs and white beads are very gentle onto skin I swear. And the scent? I could not help myself but sniff the sweet and refreshing citrus scent of it. I have used this for about 2 weeks now and I never had a break-out yet (crossing fingers not to happen please). I think this product suit my skin. And oh, as far as I remembered, this is my first natural product I've ever used to my skin specifically to my face. Because of this good experience, I got curious and wanted to know more about natural products. Good thing, my curiosity has been answered by browsing Human Heart Nature website and I am satisfied with the knowledge I got. I am amazed of how they make use of nature's best by using natural ingredients in all of their products.

Anyway, I think every product has a downside and this has it but nothing major; just pretty minor. It's hard to shake the bottle when it was full; it created a lot of tiny bubbles. The white beads that settled at the bottom didn't moved at all even I shook it hard. But when I've consumed about 15% of the bottle which gave enough space and air in the bottle, I was able to shake it and finally, the beads at the bottom went up and floated together with the green scrubs.

Jenniya rate this product:
4.5 out of 5. Good.

I also wanted to try the Balancing Face Toner but it was out of stock the same time I bought the facial wash. You can buy Human Heart Nature products in Beauty Bar branches or buy directly from the Human Heart Nature online store. To know more about their products, click here and here.

Review: Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Just Peachy

I admit, yesterday was a bit tough. I never knew that running a giveaway could take a lot of my time in validating the entries (well, for now because it's my first time). Laugh at me but yes, I do. I'm so shallow I know but I really enjoy reading all the entries. Very inspiring, really. Wait, have you joined my giveaway yet? Click here to join.

Today's post is about a lipstick review. It's been long time since I posted one and guess I'll be reviewing Wet n Wild Megalast lipstick again. I was supposed to review the first Megalast lipstick I bought some months ago but I was so lazy to take product shoot until I've used the lipstick already. I regret doing it because I lost the chance to share something beautiful to my readers. It was in Nude shade though. So now I made sure this second buy will be: shoot first before use.

I bought this at Watsons Megamall. When I saw that Wet n Wild's station was deserted (I meant no sales assistant standing beside it); a smirk was drawn on my lips. I had a pretty time and went through all the Megalast shades and was torn between Think Pink and Just Peachy. But I decided to take the latter as something peachy & coral-ish will perfectly suit my morena skin. I love Think Pink, too, but maybe next time.

Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick
903C Just Peachy

What I first noticed was they finally got it labeled on the bottom. The Nude I bought before hasn't it. Good to know they heard consumer's concern because it is really hard to identify and remember the shade name with all the lipsticks we have girls, right? Except if that is something in your favorites then you'll definitely had it memorized.

Jenniya's view:

I Like:
... The color is oh-so purrfect for summer.
... Versatile shade.
... It leaves a creamy matte finish with a hint of sheen.
... It's opaque. The first swipe leaves enough amount to distribute when you pressed your lips.
... Of course, it suited my morena skin tone.
... The color doesn't wash-out my face.
... The color is a bit nude with hint of pink.
... It doesn't have an odd smell.
... The packaging doesn't look cheap.
... Affordable for only Php 299 ($7.11)

Photos from the above up to here are taken without camera flash.

I Don't Like:
... It is hard to pull-open the cap because it was like glued into the tube. I was afraid I might break the cap as I even heard the squeaky sound.
... It set in few lines particularly in the middle of my lower lip.
... My lips gone drier when I wear it.

Taken without camera flash under natural lighting beside the window.
The picture doesn't justify it's true color. In person, it's Just Peachy indeed.

Taken with camera flash under natural lighting beside the window.
The picture somehow justified the color but in a lighter version. Imagine it 1 shade darker, then you'll get the Just Peachy shade.
Taken without camera flash.

Jenniya Says:
Even though I said that it can be drying on the lips, I actually don't mind at all because it never get to the point that it crack or wound my lips like the other local cheap brands. The creamy texture of it is the kick you will get to make your lips stay soft and not flaky. I just have to deal with dryness at the end of the day but hey, lip balms can solve it. I love how it look not-so-matte at all because pure matte with no sheen will definitely make you look washed-out in day time unless you're sporting a dark smokey eye in a broad daylight. This color is versatile because you can wear this in daytime and oh-so perfect at night time, too. It set on the lines, yes, but I do have a wrinkly lips ever since so I think this will look smoother to those with a blessed soft and supple lips. Agree? I would definitely purchased the other shades like Think Pink and the other orange-y & reddish ones, I totally forgot the shade names. Forgetful Jenniya I know. :)

Review: Asian Secrets Lulur Indonesian Whitening Body Srub

It's been ages since I last posted a product review. As I've mentioned in my previous post, my blog has been quiet for about 6 months. Anyway, I am here again to give a review to a certain product that I've purchased last November 2012. Yes, you read it right. I am giving a review post after 2 months of using this product. I think I had enough observation to write down on how this product worked on me.

As a natural-born Morena (brown skin), I've always wanted to have a lighter complexion. When I was younger, I envy those girls that blessed with lighter skin. That's why I get obsessed with whitening lotions when I was in high school and college. When I was already working and I've been shut-in in an air-conditioned facility everyday, my skin got lighter. Hallelujah! But then, I quit the corporate world and went freelance, so I had more time travelling and hitting the beach, hence, more exposure to the sun. I returned to my old Morena complexion.

My husband is the one that always boost up my confidence. He said I am not missing something just because I am Morena. He's totally right. He always made me feel I'm beautiful (I know in his eyes only) and that he is lucky to have me. Though I am not that conscious anymore, I still can't help myself to buy products that promise whitening. I just cannot drop it. Though I am not hoping to have whiter skin anymore, I still hope my dark areas to even out especially my knees. Some time last year, I saw tarpaulins of Solenn Heusaff showing off her smooth skin and white armpit at the perimeters of Unilab and there's no way I cannot see it everyday as that's the only road we take every time we go to Ortigas Center. I noted the product she's endorsing and it was Asian Secrets Lulur. I never had tried one when it was launched here in the Philippines last 2010. Maybe because I was overwhelmed by my hubby's boosting technique. Haha. Last November 2012, when I bought groceries in SM Supermarket, I saw Lulur. After seeing the price, I didn't have second thought but grabbed one (1) tub right away.
With Licorice and Mulberry Leaf Extract

According to its label:

"Asian Secrets Lulur Indonesian Whitening Body Scrub is a beauty treatment which originated from the royal palaces of Java, Indonesia and inspired by the ritual called Lulur. Lulur was originally intended for the bride-to-be in order to beautify, smoothen, whiten her skin before the wedding day.

The Benifits of Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Body Scrub
  • Lulur beads gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells to smoothen and give it a radiant glow.
  • Frequent usage reduces skin pigmentation and evens out skin tone by getting rid of dark patches, especially in areas prone to darkening like elbows, knees, armpits and the area between the thighs.
  • Contains Licorice and Mulberry Leaf Extract to help whiten skin.
  • It also moisturizes and leaves skin with a light fragrant scent."

Asian Secrets Lulur is available in 2 sizes (250g & 135g) and also available in 3 variants - Green Tea & Vit.E, Licorice & Mulberry, and Seaweed & Vit. E. I got the big one and it costs PhP 130.00 only. I picked Licorice and Mulberry Leaf Extract variant. I forgot to take photo of the content when I bought it but trust me it was full. I've been using Lulur since I bought it last November 2012, hence, what's left now is only about 25%.

Jenniya's view
I like:
  • The consistency is very rich and creamy. It is like a cream lotion when applied to skin.
  • Unlike other scrubs that claim, Lulur is not watery. The soft, creamy consistency is a bit deceiving because you cannot see the beads in a glance but wait until you finally scrub the product onto your skin. You will feel that the product is really on to do its job. It is rich in beads. A scrub indeed.
  • I really like the scent. It's just heavenly. My husband loves it, too. Aside from it made the bathroom smells lovely, the scent stays on your skin until the next day. I used it at night times only.
  • The cap of the jar is easy to open.
  • I love how it nourishes the skin while scrubbing.
  • It gives you an instant smooth finish after you wash. You'll feel you got squeaky-cleaned.

I don't like:
  • I cannot think of any that I dislike about this product.

Jenniya say:
I used it first on my knees. I noticed it really made my knees a little lighter. I was very happy. On the first month, I religiously used it twice a week on my body (except my neck) especially the knees, elbow and singit. But on the second month, I noticed that my knees are not getting any lighter anymore. Maybe because that's the extent the product can do with my Morena skin. Lol! It lightens my tan lines especially the bottom part (my butt). My tan does not fade away that easily but I was surprised that the harsh edges of my tan line are gradually fading when I scrub it off with Lulur.

I scrub it to my desired areas before I take a shower. If I am not lazy, I'll scrub it all over my body but most of the time, I just scrub it to my problem areas. If I see that the scrub is nearly getting dry while scrubbing, that's the time I will stop because it will wear off your skin. I was hurt the first time I used it on my knees. I got carried away scrubbing. Haha! I just noticed the bruise when I washed it off with water. As I've said, it is very rich in beads, so, be gentle on scrubbing especially on your armpit.

I cannot show you a "Before & After" shots because I know the photo can't give justice. The lightening effect on me isn't that noticeable but I am not disappointed because I know the product does it job however. Also I am used of this. I really cannot get fairer 3-4 times lighter from my Morena complexion. So, a light result would do for me. I am satisfied with the instant smoothness it gives to my skin every time I use it. The try really is worth it.

Jenniya rates:
4.5 out of 5.
