NOTD: Caronia in Summer Fling + TIPS

That rain a few days back is a sign that we have to bid goodbye to summer soon. Oh no, not yet. I'm still  enjoying wearing pastels and comfy outfits like shorts & tees, so please do not come so soon rainy season. But let's admit, that rain was helpful eh? It cool down and subsided the heat in the metro. Whew!

Since, summer is ending soon, I want to show you my few nail posts as my last hurrahs for summer. I decided to countdown on my own, so let me call this post the #3 last hurrah in my list, so expect there will be #2 & of course, #1 hurrahs. Excited?

Caronia in Summer Fling

This nail polish has been with me since July 2011. Yeap, I remember the date and will never ever forget because the first time I used this polish was during the SMART Ultimate All-Star Weekend in the Araneta Coliseum featuring the PBA All-Star and of course, NBA Superstars Kobe Bryant KB24, D.Rose, CP3, J.Harden, and many more (there were 9 of them). It was our third (3rd) time to see Kobe Bryant in person and it has been always felt like heaven.

This shade is a bit darker in person. The photo above is 1 shade lighter. I don't know but I noticed that even my SLR camera can't take the real color of any of the nail polishes. I used my iPhone 5 in taking these shots without using flash beside my window under natural lighting. If I used flash, it will show its truest color but I am not really fond of it, so be these photos speak itself. Oh the second to the last photo before the end of this post is the nearest, almost exactly the Summer Fling in person. You'll find out when you scroll down later.

Summer Fling on my nails with 2 coats. Excuse that little hump on my middle finger nails. That part was accidentally scraped by the edge of paper, so I had to top that part (only) again with the polish.

As I've said, this polish has been with me for long already. I bought this polish together with the Caronia in On The Go and I can say that formulation of this batch is very good. The shade is very opaque with just 1 coat. This shade still impressed me. And since this polish aged with me already, it gets dry and sticky very fast during the application. I do not have solvent with me at the moment (poor me). So, every after two nails, I have to close the cap tightly and roll the bottle onto my palms.

By the way, if you have old nail polishes and out of solvent, below are some TIPS:

Tip #1.) Do not shake the bottle by hitting onto your palms; it will create bubbles when the polish is applied.
Tip #2.) Roll the bottle onto your palms instead. The warmth of our palms will cause heat and this will liquify again the dry/ sticky polish. Hence, application is precise and easy then.

And another thing, Caronia nail brush is short and small, thus, it never flared widely especially with these old polishes; it gets so streaky, dried, create ugly humps and resulted to uneven application. Have you experienced this? I have another TIP for you below especially to those with long nails.

I've learned these TIP from my Mom. She used to have a salon before during her 30's to late 40's, so she knew a lot about nail polishes. I think this will do not only for the old polishes but to any polishes, may it brand new or not. Usually, if the nail polish started to get dry and sticky, when you brush the polish from your top cuticle down, sometimes the polish can't reach the tip anymore resulted to an ugly long sharp streaks.

Okay, here's what to do as shown in the photo above:
Step #1.) Load the brush and apply it first on the 1/3 part of your nail down to tip.
Step #2.) Then, load it again with a polish and apply it from the top cuticle down to tip. Do the middle part first then both sides.

This tip requires you to make 2-3 coats application. After doing the Step #1 & #2, you will see a slight hump but don't you worry. On your second coating, apply the polish as you normally do. Apply it from the top down to tips and you'll get an even result. Trust me it works!

See? It's just a very little difference from the rest of the photos but this is the exact, almost the same color in person. By the way, I didn't put top coat onto my nails. The shine you see is just reflection from my window. This shade fall on cool tones but surprisingly, it still suits my warm skin tone. What do you think?

This nail post reminded me of the outfit I wore when we went North 2 weeks ago. This is a perfect match to my shoes and will complement with my dress then. And because of that, I did a nail art following Complementary Scheme I pulled with that outfit. I will post that nail art soon. So, watch out for it.

I hope you enjoyed reading my #3 Last Hurrah for Summer and hope those TIPS helps. I will post #2 & #1 soon. I'm excited to share it with you lovelies. Oh don't forget to Like & Follow Caronia here, here & here.

OOTD: Get Freshen with Mint Green & Pink Outfit

My in-laws, hubby and I headed North last week. It's a fiesta which we never failed attending every year. I've got to see my hubby's relatives from the youngest to oldest. It was nice to get welcomed warmly by each of them.

It was a long drive and I prefer not wearing pants. I supposed to wear shorts but the hubby disagreed. He said I should wear a dress at the very last minute. Good thing this dress was already been washed and ready at my closet. At first, I refused to because I wore this about 2 weeks ago and I don't feel repeating it for that short interval of days. But heck, the hubby's request won me over.

I didn't have a hard time to mix and match. I once again relied on my color wheel neatly posted in the door of my closet. Mint Green goes well with Pink. So, there it goes! The colors are refreshing to the eyes. Agree?

[ Penshoppe dress, Penshoppe belt, Star gold earrings, Clothingloves bracelet, Parisian shoes ]

I scored this dress during the 1st day of Summer Sale of MoA some weeks ago. This dress actually came with a silver belt but I didn't used it because it seemed useless of having no holes. I picked this belt instead which I already use and posted here.

This pair of shoes were meant for me because it's the only stock that was left for the size of 41 or 9.5. By the way, I bought these on the 2nd day of the Summer Sale at half of original price (yep, I returned to MoA the next day because obviously, I can't get enough of the sale!). I can't believe my feet have grown bigger. I've been always size 38 or 8 or maybe because most doll shoes are way smaller when made. These shoes aren't different when it come to sizes to the shoes that you can buy in tianges like in St. Francis Square. I remember buying a shoes there and size 38 won't even let my vamp fit in.

Of course, I sported a pink nouveau lipstick. See how the colors are well-coordinated?

The sun was at its perpendicular that time and hell it was unforgiving. This outfit shot was done very, very quick. Hence, I forgot to sling my light pink bag (but you'll see it on my next outfit post). Oh yeah, all summer colors! Hope you learn something from this post in pulling off colors.

What do you think?

NOTD: Express Yourself with Caronia's Expressions Collection

The day I got the courage to wear bikinis, I learned to love summer more than any season and embrace the hot weather. It is only during summer that I can totally express myself and be loud and be... sexy. It is like having a full freedom to have fun. I love beach and hitting Boracay Island is No.1 in my list. I've been to Boracay for so many times already and I really hope to be back there before summer gets over. I miss the sand in my feet and I miss the sun bathing. I miss wearing my bikinis. Seriously.

When Caronia released their new Summer Collection last March 2013, I get really excited to see pastel, fresh and soft colors in it. So, when Caronia contacted me last week that they will send me over their Expressions Collection, I was very happy and felt grateful. Thank you so much Caronia!

CARONIA Nail Polish
"Expressions" Collection

The "Expressions" Collection has an assortment of light and cool colors just perfectly right in expressing yourself. First is Rosy Glow, a soft pink shade with just hint of violet for a subtly sexy naughty-or-nice appeal. Then, there's Fresh Mint, a light green polish that makes you look refreshingly cool and sporty. And lastly, there's Blue Chill in a pale blue shade for that mysterious yet classy look.

As Olive Bolico, Caronia Brand Manager, says: "We believe that we can use colors to express our moods and personalities. It's not always about what's good for your skin tone, or if it matches your outfit for the day. Sometimes, it's also fun to step out of your comfort zone once in a while and try a new shade on. You just might be surprised how well it suits you."

Rosy Glow complement my Mint Green floral bikini.
This shade set my mood sexy. I applied 2 coats and I was impressed with opacity this shade has. My hand looked darker with this shade but heck, the more you looked tan this season, the more you are in. Agree?

Fresh Mint complement, of course, Pink or Red Pink bikini.
This shade set my mood freshly. I applied 2 coats but I can still see streaks, so I think applying 3 coats would have an opaque result. I also noticed that Fresh Mint has a very tiny sparkles when I removed the polish. I think that explains why the consistency is a bit runny compared to Rosy Glow. This made my hand looked fairer and this is my favorite among the three.

Blue Chill complement my stripe Orange bikini.
This shade set my mood young and free. I applied 3 coats onto my nails but I can still see streaks but unnoticeable since it is a frosted shade. I'm not fond of frosted but the soft powder blue shade made the exemption.

These three (3) polishes are secondary colors that obviously complement my Mint, Salmon, Lemon, Lilac & Powder Blue bikinis. If you want these "Expressions" polishes to match with primary colors, then check if you have Green, Orange, Yellow, Violet & Blue swimwear. These shades remind me of Marshmallows, too. Agree?

I tried a combination of these 3 polishes and it turned out all nice and pretty. What do you think?

Hottest Summer Apparel Fashion Trends Set the Stage for Branded Clothing at Gorilla Marketing

Gorilla Marketing, a premier promotional products company, is helping companies expand brand awareness with the latest trends in summer apparel for branded clothing.

Following the lead of L.A. Fashion Week, Gorilla Marketing is taking corporate apparel and branded clothing to new fashion heights. Gone are the days of plain business attire and logo polo shirts. Today, companies can emblazon their brand name on designer shirts, cotton tees, sweatshirts, lightweight jackets, and ball caps.

Companies can create their own celebrity style by embellishing promo merchandise with embroidery, screen printing, glitter, flocking, rhinestones and other design elements.

L.A. Fashion Week revealed that summer trends will be full of brilliant jewel tones, metallics, sheer fabrics with transparent layers, and vintage wear with sleek, clean lines. Furthermore, eco fashion is leading the way for companies to be a part of the environmental solution while promoting their brand.

Gorilla Marketing President, Chris Arranaga suggests, "Providing trendy clothing that keeps recipients cool during hot summer months while looking chic is a fantastic approach to marketing. Current fashion trends embrace uniqueness and that opens the door for a lot of creativity and one-of-a-kind designs."

Summer months are ideal for making use of organic cotton and other types of eco-friendly fabrics such as bamboo and organic hemp. Combining bright colors or using metallic embroidery thread is a great way for companies to share marketing messages while providing sustainable fashion.

"Many companies are getting involved with eco-fashion to brand their business as a trendsetter", states Arranaga. "Consumers appreciate businesses that express an interest in environmental concerns, so pairing summer fashion with eco-friendly fabrics gives owners an advantage over competitors."

Companies don't need to hire a fashion designer or buy clothing that is made for runway models. Instead, summertime promotional apparel should be comfortable and cool, yet trendy enough that recipients will want to wear it on a regular basis.

"Summer months are the ideal time for supplying promotional clothing to clients due to increased visibility", states Arranaga. "People are out and about partaking in all kinds of activities, which makes the season perfect for putting marketing messages on customers' backs."

Gorilla Marketing offers a superb selection of summer apparel fabrics in bright colors and trendy styles. Their experienced consultants can help companies design unique and trendsetting apparel that embraces their brand.

Summers wish list

Holiday essentials wishlist…
wed-wishlist-holiday-essentials
Time to shop for summer holiday essentials! With all this lovely weather we are having at the moment, there’s no wonder we are already thinking about our summer wardrobe and what we can take away on our summer holidays.  Whether you are staying within the UK or flying off abroad to somewhere a bit more exotic, there’s no doubt that you’ll want to shop for all your summer holiday essentials as soon as possible! Shopping for beach getaways and girly travels is super, super exciting and Republic’s summer holiday essentials will get you in the spirit of it all. Here are some of my favourites:

Holiday Essentials for the Summer
Firstly, no holiday wardrobe is complete without some denim holiday essentials, and shorts are your friend when you go away on holiday; they can be worn in the day when going to the beach or sightseeing, then glammed up in the evening with heels and a nice top.  I love the Miso Scallop Hem high waisted shorts too as they are high waisted making them very flattering and the scallop hem is just adorable (and sooo on trend).
SS12 holiday essentials just wouldn’t be complete without a bit of distressed denim either, so the Soul Cal Deluxe Stars & Stripes hotpants would be a perfect addition – I’m loving the stars & stripes pocket detailing! Finally we all need a denim jacket in our lives and I love this Soul Cal Deluxe Ditzy denim jacket. It’s all in the details and the ditzy print turn ups on this jacket are so cute! So already, we have some fantastic summer holiday essentials to get you started on building that perfect holiday wardrobe.

Holiday Essentials – On Trend for SS12
Prints are big this summer, whether they’re  Aztec, floral, polka dot or nautical.  They look amazing and make you feel totally summery when they adorn your clothing! And of course, dresses are absolute holiday essentials;  just like shorts they can be worn both in the day and at night.  I just love the  print on this Miso Scoop back dress – it’s so fun and bright!  Speaking of shorts, we couldn’t leave out these amazing Miso Floral Shorts. Love the colours, love the print. LOVE EVERYTHING! This Lipsy Ruffle Play suit is the perfect summer playsuit and the cute ditsy floral print is so feminine and pretty. Dress it up in the evening with a pair of wedges and over-sized clutch! But there’s more to the complete holiday essentials capsule collection.
Now how you can you holiday without a selection of gorgeou bikinis?

Bikinis are a must for your suitcase of holiday essentias, and here at Republic we have some great styles to choose from. My personal faves are the Miso Assymetric frill bikini. , the Crafted Tassle Bikini and the Soul Cal Deluxe Flag Bandeau bikini.
And finally you can’t forget about your accessories when building the ultimate holiday wardrobe.  Sun protection is very important so you should wear a hat while out in the nice weather – thankfully, Soul Cal Deluxe Deluxe has brought us this very on trend Trilby Hat. to keep us looking stylish while protected. You’ll need a beach bag to carry all your belongings with you and I find that bigger is better, so this Soul Cal Deluxe Stripe tote bag would be perfect.  A great nautical bag with loads of room! It could even be used as your hand luggage bag! Some people like wedges, others like flip flops – now I like the espadrille, comfy and practical. :)
So there we have it.  All the summer holiday essentials from accessories and beach bikinis to summer dresses and cool jackets.  Don’t you just love summer?
Hope you’re all looking forward to your summer, and I hope that’s given you some ideas of what you could add to your holiday wardrobe from Republic! Browse the Sun Shop for plenty more summer treats!
